ABOUT

Simone is an Austrian Visual Artist and Filmmaker based in Bristol, UK.

She uses various media including moving image, object and sound art to explore subjective and collective memory in relation to place, identity and belonging.

The core of her practice is collaborative - she works with local communities, composers, sound artists, performers, writers and visual artists to develop multidisciplinary work.

Simone is a Resident of the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol. The Studio is a creative technologies collaboration with Watershed, University of the West of England and University of Bristol.

With her residency, she currently explores how site-specific multimedia art and creative technology can narrate community stories through oral history, folk song and artefacts. She also examines how her practice can stimulate hybrid physical/digital community archives and make them more accessible.

As a member of Bristol Experimental Expanded Film (BEEF), Simone is particularly interested in supporting the South West’s artist moving image landscape and in the research of memory, place and belonging in art film. She started curating the event series ‘Embodied Fields’ at Kit Form / Jamaica street Studios in December 2023 to provide a platform for research, collaboration and skill exchange.
